Artist statement

Lexy is an artist and researcher, currently based at Isotop darkroom in Bergen. She specializes in alternative silver mirroring toning, an experimental analogue photographic technique she has developed, to restore the silver to the surface of silver gelatin prints, and converting the silver mirroring decay into a mesmerizing visual effect. She also works with textile and moving images, viewing photography as a form of performance and action that extends beyond the content of the image. Her work intends to re-define photography, placing the emphasis on the materiality of photography, to question how can the materials of photography explain its own subject, how can photography presents its own photographs, and what can we sense from the explanations and representations?
