Transforming Drawing into Darkroom Prints by Cliché Verre
workshop in the darkroom at Isotop with Lexy Liangzi Xiao
Drop-in/første mann til mølla: 2-3 pers hver hele time
An experimental workshop based on drawing on transparent film, followed by B&W printing and development at the Isotop darkroom under professional guidance by Lexy Liangzi Xiao. Cliché Verre is originally a print made by placing light sensitive photographic paper beneath a glass plate or a transparent material, where a design has been scratched through an opaque coating, and then exposed to light to get an inverted image on a photo paper. The workshop will provide 1 piece of transparent film and limited amounts of photographic paper per person, and the chemistry for the development. Participants can also bring a drawing on a piece of transparent film (size about 4x5 inches) for the printing, instead of finishing a drawing at the workshop.
Lexy is an artist and researcher based at Isotop darkroom in Bergen. She has been working with alternative and analogue photographic processes since 2018. She specializes in Alternative Silver Mirroring Toning, an experimental analogue photographic technique she has developed her own recipes and processes, to restore the silver to the surface of silver gelatin prints, and converting the silver mirroring decay into a mesmerizing visual effect. She aims to spread the art and analogue photography related knowledge, develop the old techniques from a contemporary perspective, and provide more hands-on experience by teaching workshops in the Isotop darkroom.
