Ina Hagen (b.1989, NO) is an artist and writer based in Oslo, working
across text and performance, printed matter, digital media, pedagogical forms, and communal making practices. In constructing performative situations and platforms responsive to conditions of site and context, Hagen merges situated histories, collaborative and participatory acts in instances of collective, critical reflection. In recent works, a key theme has been the ways in which norwegian energy colonialism is legitimised and normalised through industry self-presentation in mainstream media, and its consequenses on individual and societal levels.

Her work has been exhibited at the 10th Nordic Biennale, Momentum, (NO); Bergen Kusthall (NO); Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo (NO); Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven (DE); Index, Stockholm, (SE); Coast Contemporary, (NO); INCA, Seattle, US (Solo); Kunsthall Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (DK); Podium, Oslo (NO), among others.
She has been awarded research and production residencies at, among others, WIELS, Brussels (BE); IASPIS, Stockholm, (SE); Capacete, Rio de Janeiro, (BR); BAR Project, Barcelona, (ES); and Quartier 21, Museums Quartier, Vienna, (AU). Alongside her studio practice, Hagen is deeply involved in and dedicated to issues of artists’ working and living conditions, most notably through political influence work as a board member of the young artist’s union, national membership organisation, and contemporary art institution UKS (Young Artist’s Society) (2017-2023), and as a founding member of Kunstnerboligforeningen (THE ARTIST HOUSING ASSOCIATION). She co-initiated, programmed, and ran the discursive platform and exhibition venue LOUISE DANY in Oslo from 2016-2020, and has been a recurring contributor to the Nordic art journal KUNSTKRITIKK (2016-2021).
