Artist statement

Anthony Charles Morton (b. 1992, Durban, South Africa) is an artist based in Bergen, Norway. Morton approaches painting through a naturalistic cosmology, with matter forming 13.8 billion years ago, visuality 540 million years ago and image-making 73,000 years ago. Through theory and painting, he explores image-space as a way the universe expresses itself, where a mode of reality is rendered explicit. If existence discloses itself to us as visual, what then beckons from within the realm of the image?
