Artist statement
Martha will be opening studio to visitors on Saturday, September 19th.
Martha Engström Boij (b. 1997, SE) works across printmaking, sculpture and textiles. Through stitches, cuts and lines, she creates a distinctive visual world where fantasy, realism and humour converge. Her practice explores and questions the roles assigned to women, as well as the norms and exceptions shaped by cultural context and the spirit of the times.
Martha åpner studioet for besøkende lørdag 19. september.
Martha Engström Boij (f. 1997, SE) arbeider med grafikk, skulptur og tekstiler. Gjennom sting, snitt og linjer skaper hun en særegen visuell verden der fantasi, realisme og humor møtes. Hennes praksis utforsker og stiller spørsmål ved rollene som er tildelt kvinner, samt normer og unntak formet av kulturell kontekst og tidsånd.
