Artist statement

Giuliana Borrelli (b. 1990) is an Italian photographer based in Bergen, Norway. She earned a BA in Photography from the University of Westminster, London, and an MFA from KMD, Bergen. Working primarily with analogue photography, darkroom printing, and text, her practice is rooted in autobiographical narratives exploring intimacy, memory, and notions of home.
Drawn to the slowness and materiality of analogue processes, she uses photography as a means of introspection and as a way of exploring the relationship between memory, identity, and place. Through staged imagery, she examines loneliness, the passage of time, and the attachments we form to spaces.
