Artist statement

Studio 1
I am a Canadian artist attending an artist residency at USF Verftet from August 25–September 30, 2026. Over the last fifteen years I have developed an exploratory, interdisciplinary practice, making work that is informed by my lived experience of fragility, permeability, porosity, and impermanence, following a near-death accident and hospitalization. In the last decade, my material sensibility has been informed by the time I spent living on a rural property with my maternal family, where I learned to apply practices of saving, salvaging, sorting, piling, repairing, and remaking to my studio work. My most recent work uses photography, installation, and collaborative work with other artists to articulate embodied experiences of presence, absence, fracture, and loss.
