Artist statement

-Åpent atelier lørdag 23.september 2023-
Amani Al-Kidwa is a designer-maker based in Bergen. She is currently exploring ideas around connection - to ourselves, each other, and the natural world - through practices revolving around jewellery-making and writing, with an interest in examining the role played by daily objects, place, and memory in our collective and personal histories. Her work is inspired by ancestral craft practices, especially North African and Middle Eastern jewellery traditions. It is also fuelled by an interest in the mysticism and mythology around our bodies and our place in the natural world.

Amani specialises in hand-made small batch collections and bespoke pieces, using a combination of traditional goldsmithing techniques, with a focus on carving intricate wax models that are then cast into metal.

She is an alumni of Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Art.
