Amani Al-Kidwa is a jewellery designer-maker based in Bergen, with an interest in exploring the role played by daily objects, place, and memory in our collective and personal histories. Her work is inspired by ancestral and traditional craft practices, ecological histories, and the space the latter two intersect, as well as North African and Middle Eastern jewellery traditions, both in their own rights and as anchors to her heritage.
Amani specialises in hand-made small collections, one-of-a-kind pieces, and bespoke work, using a combination of traditional goldsmithing techniques with a special focus on carving intricate wax models that are then cast into metal, a technique known as lost-wax casting (one of the oldest recorded metalworking techniques in the world).
